I have a Radio Shack mobile scanner in my car. I just moved it from my
old car to my new car. When it was installed in my old car, I used an
antenna splitter from Paradynamics. It worked great. I tried using the
same antenna setup in my new car and the reception was bad for both the
scanner and the radio. So, I now have taken a 12 foot piece of antenna
extension and stripped the insulation and copper braid off down to about
3 feet from the end. The covered end I connected to the scanner and the
exposed, insulated center wire, I ran behind the mouldings next to the
windshield, above the door, and down the back of the roof. The
reception is better than what I got with the Paradynamics splitter but
not as good.
My question: Is there a way to tune this sort of antenna for better
reception?
