After running MalwareBytes on the entire system, which took forever (I actually fell asleep at the keyboard) and checking MSE's log, I have no untoward programs on my system, which I suspected all along and that suspicion was driving me crazy because I couldn't understand why a system as protected as mine could allow this to happen. Of course, the blame could have been placed on our favorites of "Operator Error" or "Operator naivete". (-: So, I checked that little devil mentioned below on the Internet with google and came up with several possibilities, most of which didn't work. The program that kept popping up was "uwvou.com", which is a redirect to another site or sites and I discovered the site(s) to be random. One suggestion I found was to look for a program called "arcadecandy" and delete it and restart the system. After a search failed to yeild such a name, I then tried another promising suggestion that said to look for a program called "redirect.com" and that failed, too. The ultimate solution here was to follow the third and last suggestion, which solved the problem. I ran FF 14.0.1, clicked on Help > Troubleshooting Information and then clicked on the following two buttons: 1. Copy all to clipboard (I save the contents to a file just in case) 2. Reset Firefox Bingo! No more "uwvou.com" popups. All of my favorites and recent bookmarks remained, including history, so I was ecstatic that I found something that worked. I hope it works for anyone else inflicted with that same program.
