Hello Tom. 05 Sep 03 08:08, you wrote to me: TW> What do you use for a Readout. Depends on the intended usage. If moving maps then a half decent TFT would be the way to go but if it is simply to collect data then a small LCD is all one needs for basic input/output. Then I'd buy a quality reciever with external antenna - which is what I'd buy no matter what - wire it into a capable mobile computer - such as the one I am in the process of constructing - and put a decent high resolution LCD monitor. Perhaps the ones they have on the mobile DVD players. Nice graphics on those and lowpower consumption. Either that or a good laptop screen but ditch the rest of the laptop. :-) TW> This of course for Street Level navigation. Perhaps tey work fine ofr TW> hte Boater using navagational Charts. Yep. You still have to know what you're doing. Anyone relying on the GPS unit alone to navigate for them isn't too smart. They are a very nice tool but demand knowledge from the user. Not unlike computers, automobiles, boats, planes, whatever we care to discuss. Right?
