And being born in 1935 in England, I also managed to survive the blitz,
rationing (as it was in the UK!) buzz-bombs and thousands of US
military!
 
BUT: I could also go through high school with a damn good chance of
achieving my aims if I worked at it. Wanted to see the world, and
wanted to fly:  did it all at the UK taxpayers expense and had a ball!
Flew gliders and Tiger Moths as an air cadet and travelled widely in the
RAF.
 
I pity the kids today.
