| subject: | Adapter ? |
Hello, Jean. Sorry, I've been busy. On 8/29, you wrote - - JP> With this MoBo that I mentioned to you, came an adapter for CPU. JP> I fooled around with it a little and found that the CPU, a JP> Celeron 566, fits into the 370 socket, also the adapter fits JP> into the socket too and the funny part is that the Celeron then JP> again fits into the adapter. Gotchme ! Sorry, I've never seen a 370 to 370 adapter. But I will say that Celeron 566 is a FCPGA Socket 370 chip, where most of the slower Socket 370 Celerons are PPGA chips. The Celeron 566 runs at 1.5 volts, vs. 2.0v for the PPGA chips. Many older Socket 370 boards won't support the FCPGA voltage and clock multiplier. JP> Sorry, the little box says: converter, not adapter. It is a JP> Lin-Lin 370 CPU Celeron III Converter socket. Suitable on slot 1 JP> MoBo. Can you decipher this for me ? I feel that the seller has JP> provided this as a "gift" and will not be needed when I build JP> the next system. Did I provide enough information on this ? Now you're confusing me, since the information seems to be conflicting. Slot 1 is what is on that GVC KR637 board where you've been trying to get the video to work. They have adapters which will fit into Slot 1, and they have a "370" socket on them, where you can insert a Socket 370 chip. Those adapters are commonly referred to as a "Slotket", and are generally about 3" x 5". A slotket will not fit into a Socket 370 ZIF socket. If that is what you have, it is not needed for your Socket 370 mainboard. - - - JimH. ...
