OD>You mean like WordPerfect or NotePad do?
Notepad isn't realtime wrapping, and don't try to program with WP.
TH>The complier will tell you. And since compiles are fast, a syntax
TH>check is simply a click of the key away.
OD>Do you always recompile when testing something?
Sure.
OD>I will only recompile everytime when I'm coding demos. Otherwise
OD>I'll run from the IDE.
The IDE (either one) compiles and runs all code. There is no
interpretive run mode.
TH>mispell a variable I'll catch it at compile time and not at run-time
OD>With QB's IDE you catch it at code-time.
I don't recall it having that ability. A mispelled variable is just
another variable in QB, as I recall.
TH>timesaver. Also, my editor supports and automaticall runs an
TH>assembler, if I am working on an assembly file, or a C++ compiler, if
TH>I have a .CPP file.
OD>Ah, that's nice. But what will it compile/run for? What language?
Whatever the main file so designates. If it's a BAS, then it will
compile BASIC and link procs. If it is a .CPP, then it compiles
'C++', etc. The procs can be in any language, they need only conform
to the standard 'stack frame' model.
OD>Well, I like to be able to come up with a piece of code real fast.
OD>I found QB to be the most efficient for programming.
Enjoy...
OD>Hey, talking about real-time interpreters... I know some BASICs
OD>relied on a BASIC chipset.. Do they still make processors with
OD>those chipsets? Or compilers that actually use them?
TH>Not sure just what you mean. In the early days (80s) a BASIC
TH>interpreter could be found in ROMs in many PCs and XTs. Is this
TH>what you are refering to?
OD>Yes. Do they still make motherboards that have those chips?
Haven't seen that in over ten years, except on industrial control
systems.
OD>See ya around!
OD>Omega@inorbit.com
yep.
