 Yuo can do that but you must monitor the setup. I used a power supply
and caused a premature death of a Group 31 batterey becasue I didn't
check on it for a long time. 
IF the power supply is adjustable and has Good Voltage regulation you
can Charge the battery with an approprate charger and then set the Power
supply to the Maintaining Voltage and basicly forget it untill the
battery is needed.
