DH> Hawkwind is still around????? I haven't even heard anything from or
DH> about them since "The Space Ritual".
I saw them in concert (finally!) two years ago, in VA. Dave Brock is the
only original left, but, yes, Hawkwind is still going. That tour was a
25 anniversary celebration of sorts. It was, however, a year late
because Nik Turner has his own band now and they wanted to avoid
conflicts between Hawkwind and Nik Turner's Hawkwind Experience (or
something like that).
Up until about 81 or so, I hadn't heard anything about them beyond the
promos we'd had at the radio station where I worked in 75-76, _Space
Ritual_ being about the newest. Around 81, I found _Zones_, a
compilation of mostly stuff newer than _Space Ritual_. Even the used
vinyl shops I explored in the early 80's seldom seemed to have much by
them any newer. Then, in 87 I got my first CD player, and now, thanks to
the numerous CD reissues, I have about 27 of their albums (which still
isn't near all of them).
