The boat I sail on on Thurs nights has a nice (?!!) hunk of 
metal at the bow that my skipper refers to as a "can opener".  
It's reminiscent of the old style hand can openers that came with 
the corkscrew in the handle.  
... What happens if I pull on this rope?
