Lets see, you went to dos (or whatever) and typed start 1, I am not sure it 
would do it. was there a door.sys in your node 1's directory? and if there 
was, if this is telnet, was the fossil initialized. If I am taking you 
literally, you should set it up in the bbs, and then pass node 1 on to the 
start.bat . This way the fossil is initialized and the door.sys is the
correct one in the right place.
