CG> My twigs turned out to be dry enough to emit a loud

It never hurts to try, anyway... nothing ventured, nothing gained,
I think someone said... (before I said it, I mean :) Stranger
things have happened... I've always taken cuttings of Crape
Myrtle in February... and anyone who grows Crape Mrytle can
tell you that, in February, they don't show much signs of life...
in fact, in February, they give every appearance of death, it'self!
But, root, they do! It is the normal time to take cuttings...(at
least, in the deep south... as far west as Texas/Oklahoma, and
as far north as DC area.
The point of all this is, if you got 'em, stick 'em. If they give you
fresh growth, that's great! (...and that much more you have to
figure out what to do with! :) If they don't root, cut 'em up and
feed 'em to the worms!
WI>>history, is Maple, as it produces a gas that can kill
WI>>other plants...
CG> I've never heard of this before. But there again, I
 CG> didn't grow up here. I'm a transplant meself!
I thought Australia, ... but if not there, (where ever 'there' is :)
where, then...
cheers,
WL Sakowski
