To all of you who read my post on my friends child Robert I will update you
on the letter received.
The letter received was from the Superindent of the School district.
It stated that:
1) Medication can be given 15 to 40 min. earlier than the
it should be administered.
2) Robert is the one that does not want to get the
medication at the latest time which is 11:45 because
this would mean he has to eat lunch with the 1st and
4th graders. He has elected to come in at 11:15 so
he can eat with the class.
3) If she or the doctor want to overide that they can and
Robert will get his medication at 11:45 and eat with
the 1st and 4th graders.
The whole point to this was to get Robert to take the medication after
lunch and not before because he doesn't have an appetite at lunch time.
Can she legally make the school give Robert his medication after lunch
or is there a educational law that sticks with the 15 to 40 minute rule
that medication can be given earlier?
Also Robert is feeling the effects of "discrimination". What I mean is
things he does gets punished severly and the same thing another child
does, does not. If he tells the principal about someone doing something
to him, nothing is done, but if another child tattles on him he gets
disciplined. Let me give you an example: Robert took to school a toy
gun and after school, joking around with another child, pretended it was
real. Robert did not know the child didn't understand it was all a joke
and the child thought the gun was real. He was suspended for it. I for
one understand why he was suspended and there was no quarrel over that.
The other day another child did the same thing. When the principal was
questioned about it he said the reason Robbie was suspended was because
it was Robbie who did it. Clearly this indicates that anything that
Robbie does will be disciplined and other children do not have the same
rules. Other indications are things such as screaming at Robbie when
he does something wrong. Of course Robbie decided if he was going to
be treated this way he would act the way they expect him to act. He
retalliated and got caught and was almost suspended again, but this
particular act will be held on his record as it was quite wrong. Other
things such as this has happened before and nothing was done. Clearly,
because there are no real witness to some of these acts it is hard to
get ahold of a real "discrimination" act. I do suspect that she may
be able to write back to the superintendent about the toy gun thing, but
I am not sure about the rest such as the screaming and such. This is only
heard by Robbie and his mother. The point to this is that we need to show
"discrimination" against Robbie in order to help Robbie reason out why he
needs to behave and have a good reason to. Any suggestions? Thanks.
