subject: OS/2 Object Window?

-=> Quoting Jim Fitzsimmons to All <=-

 JF> Hello,

JF> perhaps provide a scenario as to why one is created ? Any Gurus out

An object window doesn't have a visible window associated with it and
doesn't accept user input, but can send and receive messages. It
usually runs as a secondary thread of the main thread.

Object window threads aren't bound to the 1/10'th second rule, which
says an app should not take longer than 1/10th of a second to process
messages it receives. If your app receives a message that requires it
to do something that's going to take longer than .1 of a second, then
you post a message to the object window and let it do the work, so the
main thread is still able to process messages from PM.

This is explained in Petzold'z book.
