Which drives are you dl'ing to?  What are you using for a SCSI controller?

Which drives are you reading or searching?  What are you using for a SCSI controller?

Yep.  Dir caching is not desirable on HDs.  It is generally there to speed
up floppy access.

That should be adequate for most uses.  Too much is when you run out of
memory :-)  You might want to try one of the caching programs like
HyperCache if you can find it.

My guess as to your problem is the SCSI controller.  There are several
patches around for GVP and C=2091 cards in A4000s and you may have to
update your ROM if it is a GVP.
