Most moderators don't resign, when a new moderator is elected they pass the
moderatorship to the new moderator and that is that.

I would have preferred that we voted for the new moderator but there was only
one candidate so it wasn't necessary. The election rules were posted and
followed with not one person calling the election foul.

Perhaps in future elections we should have a nomination process so that we
can nominate folks we think would be good for the post and have more than one
candidate.
