-=> Quoting Peter Schuller to All <=-
PS> I have been coding for DOS for a while now, and I wnat to switch to
PS> OS/2 (since that's the OS a use and love :-D). What would be the best
PS> way, if I wanted to learn PM programming? To first learn to handle all
PS> the "text-mode" stuff, and then advance to PM, or to step directly
PS> into the "PM-world"? (I don't know what book to buy, a
book about PM
PS> programming or not!) I will be using VAC++ for OS/2...
I'm pretty sure that VAC++ comes with an edition of DEVCON. If
that is so, then you'll have access to a lot of information. What you
might need then is a book that introduces you to all the concepts in a
logical and non-overwhelming manner (there is a LOT of information on
the DEVCON CDs). Personnaly, I've purchased the OS/2 Warp Programming
for Dummies. This book is for beginners, and gives a good introduction.
However, I'm nearly passed that point, and find that I require additional
information/introduction/guidelines on sound (MMPM, DART), graphics
(presentation spaces, bitmaps, DIVE), and SOM/WPS programming. But the
book is nevertheless worth the 20$ I paid for it.
Other than that, you have to get a hold of EDM, an electronic
magasine that covers a lot of OS/2 programming topics.
