> Mulling over Donald Tidmore to Steve Asher 24 Jul 2004 >> You can get copy of lord406.zip from the >> www.nightfallgames.com/files/ web-site, from its Programs >> directory. > I will check it out. One thing I ought to mention is that I patched my personal copies of the LORD version archives a couple of years ago when I got into Lord game playing again. At a later time, the Lordlegacy site was closed down permanently by Preslar, and there was at that time, no central location to obtain Lord programs from any more. Michael Everett and I discussed that situation and he offered to host a new Lord Archives site, and I took care of posting my entire, non-private, Lord collection to the new server, which is http://www.nightfallgames.com/files/ . That included my personal copies of the Lord versions. So when someone gets those files, they don't have to mess with rte200 patching themselves, since those lord versions are already patched. I noticed that you run DOS apps under OS/2. Unless things changed since the last time Preslar told me anything on situation, there will never be an OS/2 version of LORD. For the simple reason, that as I understand things, Metropolis Gameport would not authorize work on an OS/2 Lord since they saw no sign of a large customer base there. And if I recall things right, they also forbade him to do OS/2 ports of Lord II and Planets: TEOS for the same reason. I'm thinking details on that were given to me by Preslar about two years ago, and are probably in one of the Lord Authors newsletter issues from around 2002, in case you want to look up more info on that subject. > The current ones are: Barak's House V2.02; Players Market V0.13 (patched); >The Jeweller V1.2 (patched); TimeLord V1.0b (patched); Marty's Mercantile V2.2 > Outlands Tavern V1.5a & The Pawnshop V3.40. Regarding those IGMs, Players Market and TimeLord are abandoned status igms, whose authors could not be located. Seth Able created Barak's House and allows its support to be handled by Bryan Turner, at my request. Ahkenaton, author of The Jeweler, authorized my distribution of the rte200 patches of some of his programs. He told me several months ago that he'd locate his source code files and send them to me to recompile them, but he never followed through. So all of Ahkenaton's igms I think have to be best classified as being presumed to be unsupported now. He is either too busy to deal with the programs, or he simply forgot about them. Marty Blankenship fully supports his igms - Mercantile and Dave's Inn. The last two igms are mine to support for their authors - Jason Brown and Chris MacPherson. I don't plan to do further work on Pawn Shop until bugs show up again, which I hope doesn't happen . Or I just decide it has been long enough since the last work that I want the challenge of updating the igm some more. As for Outlands Tavern, it is in full development now. I have in process new code for its Fairy Food feature that will randomly allow the buyer to (a) gain 1 skill point, (b) have nothing happen, or (c) lose 1 skill point. And the fairy food is setup so that it can only be used once a day. Attempts to use it more than once have penalties imposed on the player. When I have an idea as to what to do with the Red Dragon Cocktail option, it will work the same way. If you want to test the current beta, contact me via email at gtidmore (at) hiwaay.net. The other igms still in beta are Violet's Cottage II, which I need to get finished up this week and released officially. Hiding in the Shadows is nearly ready for 2.00 release. Lord Cavern 1.6c beta is fully updated now, along with RHP Toolkit 1.6c beta. But they won't be released officially until I'm able to release O.Tavern also. That's because changes made to one igm affect the other three igms that are based on Jason's RHP Script Language and they affect RHPTest. Realm of Lore is in standby mode until Charlie Wardick has its conversion to ANGEL toolkit far enough along for me to take over full-time development of the igm. I'll be working on The Gateway and The Forest Outhouse later this month. > (Would you believe a user came online & started playing LORD while I was > in it looking at the IGMs. There has been a mini-revival here lately of > former & new users telnetting to play LORD etc. I registered Lord with > Seth 9 years ago, & recently sent off a money order to Metropolis / Gameport > for Lord 2 & Planets:TEOS, but no response yet ) > Cheers, Steve.. I am glad that people have started to play Lord more, but I would have to imagine that the players all are wondering at times whether Lord will ever be released officially again anytime soon. As for Gameport stuff, when I got my registration for Lord, about two years ago, they sent it to me in about a week's time. If you don't get something by the end of a week, I suggest you follow through with registered mail letter to the company asking them why they are not sending you your reg. codes. And you might carbon copy the letter to the Federal Trade Commission - it never hurts to have the FTC aware of companies that may be screwing the consumer in an interstate commerce situation. I continually hope someday that someone will buy Lord from them, and give it the full attention it really deserves. BTW, I hope this message does not get duplicated. But as you've probably noticed, this echo along with DoorGames echo, has a bad tendency to duplicate messages from at least a dozen participants. Why that is, I have no idea.
