Raymond overheard News-000 on the Coconut Telegraph....
JS> Palmer said the pilot revved the engines up full trying to free
JS> the wheel. (A big NO NO. When this happens you are to shut down.)
JC> Now, he says, a support plane, another Boeing 707, (VC-135) is
JS> arriving to pick up the president and others on the plane. The air-
JS> port is closed until the president can leave. Gear and luggage are
JS> being taken off the plane.
JS> -------------------------------------------------------------------
JC> If anyone is interested I understand that the 89th at Andrews has
JC> openings for two VC-135 qualified pilots.

I would be willing to wager there are two new filled positions
peeling potatoes at the Officers Club... or something equally
suitable.
Many years ago I had the chance to fly with Col Albertazzi
who later co-authored a book - "Hostage One" which I am reading
oddly enough, at this very moment. We were practicing "touch &
go" at Andrews, and I got to tag along. He used to place a filled
water glass in the cockpit and, if the water did'nt slosh over the
brim, that was a good rollout/takeoff/landing.
Made sense to me.. He was a consummate professional, and an
exceptionally friendly gentleman.
He retired after Nixon resigned, the exact date of which I can
look up, but is not that relevant, And I can imagine, in his
retired status, him laughing until his face turns red at this
situation. Wouldn't you love to read the Incident Report
on this one?
... This tagline built to Governmert Specififications...
