-> came on sooner than that. I've been considering a generator, just in
-> case. I know it will happen again--we lose power at least once a
-> year. This latest time was the first it's ever happened in cold
-> weather, however.
We've been considering a generator too. Driving around in the ice with
birds for hours trying to find a warm spot was scary. We have a very
good woodburning stove, but hadn't installed it yet. Our bed is in the
spot where it will go. We just need to get this addition done this
year. We're doing the heavy labor foundation part now.
-> When we lost power last summer, it was so hot in here we almost lost
-> a baby Jenday who was in a brooder; she overheated and began to pant,
-> and her crop slowed way down. We had to put ICE in the brooder to
-> save her life. A generator-run fan would have solved the problem
-> then, just as a space heater would have helped so much last week.
The ice was a great idea, Kathy. It's amazing what we can come up with
when we have to. Are generators real expensive? We lose power in the
summer, too- maybe not so much this year, though. I think all the
limbs that could fall went down in the ice. There are still fallen
trees and limbs everywhere and fires from people burning them. Couldn't
open my windows yesterday because of smoke.
-> WAY too chilly for this warm blood, that's for sure!
Me too. I'm beginning to think North Carolina isn't far enough south.
Hmmm. Maybe I should migrate to St. Augustine with my sister.
