Hi, George! Recently you wrote in a message to Ardith Hinton:
GP> That's a Random House dictionary, then, and opinions
GP> naturally vary as to the value of a RH offering! ;)
Quite possibly. It's only one of five dictionaries I use on a
regular basis, however. IMHO each has its strengths & weaknesses....
:-)
GP> I personally favour the Oxford, cuz it's a fun read,
GP> not JUST a reference!
We have the compact OED. It's not so young any more &
neither am I... I find the small print harder to read than I used to. But
I still find it a fun read too, with its wealth of variant spellings &
archaic language... [grin].
GP> Dallas was/is a musician? What kind?
Dance bands, big band jazz, off-Broadway shows... you name it!
Now we just do it as a hobby. More people are using recorded music these
days.... :-/
AH> We'd been talking earlier about where to put the

GP> Oh, as in the secretary's boss?
GP> Or, if speaking of a pool, the secretaries' boss?
Persactly.... :-)
AH> Seems to me it's quite an important lesson, not
AH> just for Mommies... [chuckle].
GP> Yeah, it's just that mommies seem to get the lessons
GP> harder & faster than the rest of the world! *G*
See the grey hairs? I've earned every one of 'em.... :-))
