>>> Day Brown on "The Sky is Falling"
DB> If the political and capitalistic ineptitude does screw up, as I
DB> think it very well might, the typical expectation is anarchy for
DB> some months while widespread genocide is carried out, and then a
DB> gradual reorganization into feudal warlords.
That's about right. It will take awhile for military equipment to be
expended.
The successful wars
DB> will be won by those who can organize what resources remain; the
DB> high tech jets will be runway junk; contrary to 'Mad fuel
DB> will be too short to provide many vehicles, and most of the fuel
DB> remaining might better be spent on tractors to plant with.
They will destroy most available resources.
DB> The more global population grows, the more rigidly production is
DB> going to have to be organized to achieve the kinds of efficiency
DB> needed to meet demand, and the more brittle that system will be,
DB> the more rapid it's collapse, and the more devastating.
Yes, and have you noticed that the more global population grows the more
rigidly population is controlled. When I was a kid dogs roamed free, cats
wore no collars and camping sights were without charge or reservation.
Indeed, when if falls it will be a total collapse.
DB> I can imagine a group of visionaries taking some step to survive
DB> such a disaster, having the imagination to organize resources to
DB> sustainability, and the weapons to keep what they have. I can't
DB> imagine them letting anyone else know where they are.
They're militia in Idaho. It's also the US government, with it's stock piled
nuclear war shelters. They will be reduced to subsistence living on depleted
land. Those most likely to survive are those who already are subsistence
living as long as they can survive predators who in the end will be the ones
with the most ammunition. To what level technology will fall it is hard to
surmise, below that required to produce gun power? Those with cashes of
bullets will be faced with a dilemma of using their remaining rounds for
defense, predation, or hunting.,
