1237cf39ccb4 tech Hello Tom - --8<--cut TW> They were designed to be Used inside a Computer room for TW> back up power. Obviously in that applications they would TW> use a large bank of Hydrogen bottles for much longer TW> support time. To quote Hindenburg, "Maybe Hydrogen wasn't such a good idea." :-) Graphic: http://www.unmuseum.org/hindenburg.htm Reason for the fire?: "A more recent theory suggested by Addison Bain, former manager of NASA's hydrogen program, was that the initial fire was not burning hydrogen. Hydrogen burns without much of a visible flame, but witnesses described the fire as extremely colorful. Bain th hinks the doping solution used to stretch and waterproof the hull was responsible. The compound, a layer of iron oxide covered with coats of cellulose butyrate acetate mixed with powdered aluminum, is very similar to a mixture used to power solid fuel roc ckets. "The Hindenburg was literally painted with rocket fuel," says Bain." Terrorists would love having bottles of hydrogen in the computer rooms. ;-) btw: I read that to add to Hindenburg's misery his mistress fell out of one of his dirigibles. They didn't bother to paint _her_ with rocket fuel though AFAIK. ;-) > > , , > o/ Charles.Angelich \o , > __o/ > / > USA, MI < \ __\__ ___ * ATP/16bit 2.31 * ...
