CALIFORNIA LEGISLATIVE ACTIVITY
AB 1107 (ORTIZ)... This proposal, which seeks to ban gun shows on
public grounds, was defeated in the Assembly Appropriations
Committee but at the request of the bill sponsor has been granted
a reconsideration vote. AB 1107 in its current form will chip
away at the state firearms preemption statute by allowing local
governments to regulate firearm sales at gun shows and other
events. The reconsideration vote has been scheduled for Monday,
January 26. Please continue to contact committee members and
urge them to vote "NO" on AB 1107. All area codes are (916):

AB 532 (KNOX)... Still awaiting consideration by the full
Assembly is AB 532, which would limit handgun purchases to one in
a thirty day period. Contact Assembly Members and encourage them
to oppose this bill!
SB 1339 (CALDERON)... Also pending in the Assembly is this
proposal, which seeks to ban so called "high capacity" magazines.
While making calls to Assembly Members regarding AB 1107 and AB
532, don't forget to urge their opposition on SB 1339.
