 RP>I have installed a Promise LS120 drive.
RP>It works fine when the machine is booted to dos but when I boot to OS/2
RP>Warp 4 it is not recognised and I cannot access it at all. It
RP>is connected as the primary slave. What else do I need to do ?
 RP>Can you help please ?
 LN> For Warp 4 install fixpack 6; for Warp 3 install fixpack 35. LS120
LN> support is very recent, less than two months old.
BL>In addition to Lynn's wise council, after the FP6 install, you should
BL>find three new lines at the end of your CFSys file:
BL>BASEDEV=I2OSOSM.ADD
BL>BASEDEV=I2OXPORT.SYS
BL>Rem BASEDEV=IBMATAPI.FLT
BL>~~~~
BL>Simply edit your CFSys file to delete the underlined, reboot and see if
BL>that doesn't clear things up.
BL>NOTE: When I installed FP6, I did not yet have my LS-120 installed, so
BL>the three lines above are as they were for me. Having a 120 already
BL>installed on your system, you might very well find that last line
BL>without the part?? Please report back the result of your
BL>FP6 install, with regard to the presence/absence of the "Rem " in the
BL>last line. Thanks, and Good Modeming! /\oo/\
There _might_ be a misunderstanding here. While I am not sure about the
status of the rem, you do need that IBMATAPI line to run the LS-120.
However, I do not believe that the first two lines have anything to do
with the LS-120, if that is the implication. The first two lines are
for the new support for the I2O I/O processor starting to appear on high
end motherboards and I/O cards. The 2 in I2O is really a subscript. It
is unfortunate that I2O looks similar to 120. If you download the I/O
processor drivers seperately you will find that you need to place the
same two lines in config.sys. Unless you have a i960 (Intel 80960 I/O
processor) on your motherboard somewhere those drivers won't do you much
good. Excerpts from the original beta package.....

The I2O Storage and Transport Device Drivers
The I2O Storage and Transport Device Drivers are a set of OS/2 Storage
Operating System Modules (OSM) that enables the OS/2 DASD Device Manager
to communicate with storage class devices being driven by their Hardware
Device Modules (HDM) executing in the IRTOS environment on I960
processor located on the PCI bus.
Additional technical information can be obtained from the Intelligent
I/O Architectural Specification (Version 1.5).

The device drivers will be installed and CONFIG.SYS will be updated.
Installing the I2O Storage Beta Package copies the I2O Storage and
Transport Device Drivers to the \OS2\BOOT directory on your hard file
and updates CONFIG.SYS with the statements BASEDEV=I2OSOSM.ADD and
BASEDEV=I2OXPORT.SYS.

I suppose Sam could have been slick and borrowed some of the needed
functions for removable drive support from the I2O module, but they
weren't in the original newdasd beta files. He had those removed from
the distribution sites at his request, even though they were useful for
OS/2 2.x so anything is possible.
