Hello Maurice -

TW>> Laptops are pretty power efficent Computers. They typicaly
TW>> draw .5 to .75 amps. And of that the Screen Back light
TW>> draws about half of that. The big prolbems in that people
TW>> want them as small and as Light as possable so they build
TW>> them with small batteries. People Gripe about the 2 to 4
TW>> hour usage with those batteries yet would scream Lowder if
TW>> they had a Bigger(Heaver) battery.

MK> I agree which is why I always tell people not to buy one in
MK> the first place. They don't listen. They put Windows on
MK> them, applications that requires vast amounts of memory,
MK> add additional memory, a bigger HD, cdroms, dvdroms, usb
MK> devices, printers, scanners, etc. and end up with an
MK> overpriced PC.

Many people want to be like 'Spock' from StarTrek? I think
that's why wireless lans are becoming so popular, to link back
to 'the mother ship's computer'. Even your project to
computerize a wheelchair is much the same. All we need now are
'com badges'. ;-)

MK> These same people buy SUVs that never see offroading, which
MK> is just as well as they'd kill off all the wildlife that
MK> gets in their way. They are idiots plain and simple. I
MK> apologize if this offends but that is the impression.

Truth is a Cadillac was always a fat Chevrolet and the Lincoln
is a fat Ford LTD. People have always paid a premium to have a
larger automobile than those they share the highways with. At
one time I was seriously thinking about buying a used stake
truck to drive back and forth to work to stop the little
rice-burners from cutting me off all the way there and back.
Even the terrible gas mileage would've been worth having dual
wheels and the size.

TW>> It is a Loose/Loose situation for the manfacturer.

MK> Should be Lose/Lose(?), but I get the point. However I
MK> disagree. The manufacture takes advantage of the situation.
MK> They make a fortune off people's vanity. If I were in their
MK> position I would likely do the same. Wouldn't you?

It is vanity but it's also trying to live their fantasy of
being 'Spock'. People are just trying to have some fun and do
occasionally get a bit carried away.
