6.  Some continuity with subsequent Trek series.

The kahs-wan ritual, Vulcan's Forge, and other things established in TAS 
were used again in subsequent Trek series.  By the time ENT was on the 
air, TV SFX had advanced sufficiently for a sehlat to be shown, and it 
was consistent with how it was depicted in TAS.

For that reason, the TAS episode "Yesteryear" is effectively canon.
