I'm so glad i don't have kids, I don't want them touching
any of my gear.
I've found the techniques you describe work well for
cleaning a lot of electronics though, displays on audio gear in the rack,
mixing console channel strips, etc.
One wonders what these doofuses would do if they understood
that:
1. YOu will be charged for damage for company equipment;
#2. YOu can get fired for damaging company equipment
repeatedly.
