Hi Paul--
The technique I use works only if you do your compiling and linking
from the command line. For each compiler you use, set up a "batch" file
(not REXX) that resets the environment variables for that session only,
using (for example) "SET INCLUDE=;%INCLUDE%;" (quotation
marks should not be used). If you have some DLL directories to add to
the LIBPATH, you can also use "SET
BEGINLIBPATH=;" which will
read the LIBPATH entries for this session before reading the ones in
config.sys.
Call the batch file from a desktop program-object icon that uses an
OS/2 full-screen window. The entry in the settings "Program" field
should be an asterisk (*), the "Parameters" field: "/K
"
(again, no quotes) and use your choice for the working directory. When
you exit the session, these added paths will vanish.
