Yeah, and even at V.32bis carrier frequencies, the levels are still
(numerically) in excess of -30dBm.  Bloody hell!

Sure looks that way, although other STD calls to 03 and FNQ don't appear to
have problems connecting at the highest link rate.  Dunno exactly where the
problem is, just that it's a fucking major one.

True, and given the above as a constant, my 90% success rate was good.
