| subject: | Watcom to make PM apps |
-=> Quoting Phil Crown to All <=- PC> How is Watcom for making PM apps? I thought I read that it is "not PC> the best compiler" when it comes to making PM apps, but I don't PC> remember what it is lacking? PC> Does Watcom have a PM C++ Class Library included? Yes. I have recently purchased Watcom C/C++ v10.6, and am quite pleased with the versatility and numerous libraries. What I don't like about it is the mannor in which the help files are organised. Books would be much better, but Watcom does not include them in the release; They cost extra. I have never before programmed OS/2 PM apps, but am slowly learning to do so using Watcom C/C++. So far, I have not needed to locate any libraries from other sources, but have needed additional instruction from other willing OS/2 PM programmers. (thank you all) Watcom does use quite a lot of hard disk space if you install everything (about 400MB). If you can run it from the CD, the installation adds to your PATH= statement, and adds paths on the CD, so if you don't have the CD in the drive, you will get a lot of path error messages while using other aspects of OS/2. (quite annoying, that's why I installed to the hard disk) Hope that helps. --- Blue Wave/OS2 v2.30 [NR]* Origin: Surrounded By Cows (1:134/65) SEEN-BY: 50/99 270/101 620/243 625/100 711/401 409 410 413 430 808 809 934 SEEN-BY: 711/955 712/407 515 624 628 713/888 800/1 @PATH: 134/65 17 3615/50 396/1 270/101 712/515 711/808 934 |
