I still at times have bouts of low blood sugar, but I know enough to start
eating more green vegetables than I normally do... thankfully I LOVE brussel
sprouts... they are great for low iron too. But I had other problems as a
teenager which masked or maybe were the more significant parts of being
not diagnosed. I suffered from depression, and still do... and SAD is a major
knock for me in the winter... I take prozac for it. Since going on the meds,
I have noticed that (and worked hard to get it back) I lost my ability to
do 6 things at once... which is very helpful in my hectic life. Then
on all of this combine the abuse from my mother towards me and it makes for
a pretty difficult time. When I was in grade 11 and 12 I couldn't remember
anything. I would study for days, right up until test time and still not
score well... it left me without the ambition to excel as I had always had.
Previously I was always an honor roll student... quite the change for me...
and my mother didn't *notice* that there was anything wrong! :( I would
have spells of crying to laughter the next minute... quite manic. I don't
know if this could be a result of the ADD or the depression I suffered
from or both. All I know is now everybody close to me (husband especially)
has noticed I'm not so ornery and am more light hearted than I ever was.
I also have a son with ADHD... we keep a very sharp eye on him for any
signs of depression. I don't want him to have to go through what I went
through... ever!
Ke> relations have had it. (I have to mind mine since there is a chance

 Ke> y'know.... :>
Yeah, don't I know it! My son's father (I'm convinced) is also ADHD. He's
the type of guy who can't sit still, always has to be doing *something*,
or tinkering with something. Gets up early on his days off... usually by
6:30 am. As a child he would take appliances apart and one time his mother
caught him trying to dismantle the FUSE BOX!!! Scary... I can say to date
the only thing my son has done that has scared me half to death is, he
has swung from the curtain rod and put both feet through the 3'X 4'
bedroom window! All he got was 2 little nicks on the tops of his feet! He
did this when he was 3... the doctor we had at the time said this was
*normal* behaviour for a child his age... I THINK NOT! So this was the
last straw... we got a new doctor, PDQ. We also got extremely lucky with
the new doctor. She is absolutely wonderful all the way around. :)
Oh! I just remembered something else my son used to do... when we lived
in the apartment on the second floor he used to like to stand up on the
window sill... or sit with his feet dangling out the window! I knew enough
to NOT holler and just snuck up behind him and pulled him off the sill.
After that window locks went on tightened with pliers... but soon he
figured out how to use *those*! We couldn't live anywhere that the win-
dows were higher than 3 feet off the ground! Last year he broke his arm
copying one of the big kids at school on the monkey bars. He had to be
put into surgery to put BOTH bones back into place in his wrist. The
surgeon (sports medicine) told me that he has never seen such a severe
break in a 6 year old. We've consigned ourselves to that fact that when
Cory does some damage he goes the full 9 yards! Can't say my kid will
ever do *half* a job on anything!
Okay, enough of the book... I kinda got side tracked... even if I *was*
on topic!
Take care,
Desiree
