AFAIK, you're right. :-)
I've been calling billing and collection clearinghouses to get fax
numbers to which to send a list of the phone numbers of all of the
lines in our hunt group at work to go into their blocking databases;
and it seemed at least half of those I called started by wanting to
verify the number I was calling from (the 4th line in the group),
presumably from the ANI. Similarly, we've got what was once known
as an in-WATS line; and the originating number of _every_ call to it
appears on the bill's call detail.
