subject: Watcom to make PM apps

PC> How is Watcom for making PM apps? I thought I read that it is "not the
 PC> best compiler" when it comes to making PM apps, but I don't remember
 PC> what it is lacking?

An object class.  :-)

 PC> Does Watcom have a PM C++ Class Library included?

Nope. But I think I answered this already.

 PC> I'm getting sick (didn't think I'd ever say this) of Borland's buggy
 PC> compiler.

I tried Borland 1.5 for OS/2 for about 30 minutes. That's what convinced
me of going to Watcom.

 PC> VAC++ and Open Class Library are too much of a memory HOG.

I'm considering getting a pentium and 48MB of RAM, SCSI HD's, etc. so I can
get a PM-app wizard such as VAC++.  ;-)

 PC> So I'm considering Watcom as my compiler now.

If you're a student, it's nice and cheap. It's also, as far as compiling
text mode goes anyway, relatively quick on the compile. It also lacks a
decent editor, and finding a syntax-hilighting editor is a problem - EPM
6.x, amongst very few others, can do this. The only reason I keep Borland
on my HD? PRINTING in colour. ;-)
