Yeah, but that was from Binkley's status line.  I actually had to turn off
my modem to drop DTR, and that reset the aftercall stats.

No, my Sportster will do that as well.

In the mean time, here is the log of today's connect (and also my connect
to David immediately afterwards, so you can see the difference).  

Check the number of logged Block Errors (Blers) and Retrain requests with
your NetComm too...
