-> Sticking with CP/M for as long as I did (apparently long after a lot of folks -> in here moved to pc clone hardware) and then moving to and staying with -> XT-class hardware for as long as I did, I've upgraded since then, but only in -> small steps and usually late in the game. Even now I'm at least a couple of -> generations behind the bleeding edge, or behind what's being sold in most new -> computers these days. But that's all right, I have one heck of a lot less -> money invested in the hardware here. As long as what I'm using does what I -> need it to do I'll keep using it. If I won the lottery or something (which I -> don't play :-), then I'll toss all this stuff into a big pile and get some -> "new" hardware that's current, but in the meantime I have some other -> priorities for my spending. Sounds like a parallel of my Computer Progress. I got in late but my CPM was the Commodore 128 that I stuck with until the 386's becasue popular. Then upgraded to a XT clone. Well into the Pentium era I upgraded to a Cyrix 486DLC CPU(Really a 386 on Steroids). :-) Right now I am typing on my AMD 200 Mhz and my "Hot Rod" system out on the shop bench is a AMD 1 Ghz Realisticly for what I do I see almost NO difference between the 200 Mhz machine and the 1 Ghz machine. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: Shakey Jake's *ALL FREE BBS* Santee, CA (1:202/1324) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 202/1324 10/3 106/2000 633/267 |
