-=> Quoting Lynn Nash to Phil Crown <=-
LN> As promised, the price for the OS/2 Source Code product (30H1667) is
LN> now reduced from $695 to (in the US) $149, courtesy yours truly and
LN> Dennis the Pricer. This was effective at the end of May (again, as
LN> promised) and we are just checking to see if it has percolated to other
LN> countries. So, if you are planning to purchase, make sure that you get
LN> the new pricing! regards...Max
PC>What is "the OS/2 Source Code product?"
LN> Sorry, I thought that was a known from the subject. Rereading it out
LN> of the context of VisualAge Max's note may make no sense. ICLUI (IBM
LN> C++ Language User Interface) is the Open Class library. Although I am
LN> uneasy when the comparison is made, I guess you could call it the IBM
LN> equivalent of Microsoft Foundation Class library, although supporting
LN> more platforms. This is from the original VACPP Ivory Letter (release
LN> notice).
I just started using VACPP Trial Copy from the Devcon CD's, specifically
so I could try the Open Class Library. I tried OWL (Borland), YACL, and
looked at ObjectPM by Secant Tech (there is no evaluation copy of the
library, but from what I've seen it looks very good).
IBM's Open Class looks like the most featured, but since IBM wrote it
for OS/2, I guess that makes senese. :-)
I am interested in getting the compiler, but don't qualify for an
acedemic price.
Suggest that they lower the price for the compiler too! They'd probably
sell more copies, and that's what they want, isn't it?
