============================================

As promised, I have consolidated the answers to my nodelist query, and
present them here as a complete mess...

Version 7 nodelist: used by Binkley 2.50, Msged 4.00, Portal, McMail,
Golded, Timed.
Limits characters to EANROSTILCHBDMUGPKYWFVJXZQ-'0123456789 +020h due to
compression. Also limits baudrates to 76500. Nodelist compilers include
fastlst, qnode, fastv7.
Files used are Nodex.Dat, Nodex.Ndx and optional Sysop.Ndx

Version 6 nodelist: used by Binkley 2.40, Msged 2.00, Portal. Nodelist
compilers include parselst, qnode.

Version 1-5 nodelist: never heard of them.

Version 8 nodelist: used by Bink+, a Russian Binkley clone.

Raw nodelist with indexes: used by QuickBBS/Frontdoor

GoldEd Old version: GoldNode.Nix, GoldNode.Aix, GoldNode.Lix
Maximum nodes = 32760

GoldEd New version: GoldNode.Gxn, GoldNode.Gxa, GoldNode.Gxl
Maximum nodes = 65530

"Frontdoor"
FD/IM(<2.50) Nodelist.Fdx, Userlist.Fdx, FdNet.Pvt, phone.fda, Phone.Fdx,
FdNode.Fda and FdPoint.Pvt
Used by: FD/IM(<2.50), GoldEd, TimEd, FM

IM(since 2.50) Nodelist.Fdx, Userlist.Fdx, ImNet.Pvt, Phone.Fdx, Phone.Fda,
ImNode.Fdi, ImPoint.Pvt
Used by: IM, Imedit, GoldEd,

"Remote Access"
Remote Access: NodeIdx.Ra, NodeInc.Ra (bug with missing zone)
  Ot-Track: N0deIdx.Ot, NodeIdx.Ot (bug with missing zone)
Terminate Mail Tm-Node.Inc, Tm-Node.Idx (auto add zone)
  McMail: "Nodelist"+.mcm, "Nodelist"+.mmn (dont know)

Xenia mailer: per nodelist an own index

Proboard: i believe this one had a compresed index.

There are *two* programs named "Qnode" that deal with nodelists. One
that compiles version 6 + version 7 nodelists, and one that QuickBBS
uses to generate it's internal indexes to the nodelist.
