Long Ago I read the Caution written on a product that used Aspertame as the
sweetener, it said the product contains Phenylketonurics.

I never heard of that word so I called someone who was a Hospital Lab
Technician and was told Phenylketonurics was PKU.

I remembered hearing of PKU in the 1960's when my Sister-In-Law had brought
their Baby home and the Hospital sent a square Pad to test for PKU and asked
the Mother to put it in the Baby's diaper.

After the baby wet the pad, to let it dry and mail it back to the Hospital
to see if the baby had PKU.

The results showed that my Niece didn't have PKU.

I told my friend at the Lab I thought it was strange that babies were tested
for PKU and now it is in a sweetner.

I've avoided using products that have Aspartame or Sweetners in Blue packs.

We put some Sweet N Low and some Sugar in Tea, when we make it.

Back in the 1960's I tried Calcium Clycamate (sp?) and liked it better than
Saccharin but for some reason it was stopped being used.

That's my two cents.
