I've been following the Trunk Tracker topic on the internet for the past two
or three months with the same interest you have. (I also live in Central
Florida).
The unit has not yet been released for sale to the public by Uniden. My
understanding is that a very limited number have been released to magazine
reviewers, etc. approximately 2 weeks ago.
The current "rumored" time frame for sale has the unit available to the
public in mid to late May. It will sell for between $229 - $289 street
price, at least if the online "ads" are followed through (all mail order
firms).
By all appearances, it should be perfect for the Orlando area, as it tracks
the Motorola trunking groups (which are used by Orange & Seminole Counties
and most other local governments on 800 MHz trunking systems). The unit is
limited to Motorola systems only, though speculation is that software updates
> be possible to add the other systems later.
I'll post more information about the unit later, after I've reviewed the
messages received so far.
Hope this helps! ...jmh
