| subject: | Calling FMail on receival of messages via binkd |
Hi! Niels, (I normally don't read here but I just happened to be browsing echoes, and, Fmail has always been my second favourite tosser... :) In a message to All you wrote: NJ> Is anyone using binkd as a mailer? I am currently running FMail Toss NJ> in my editor startup script, but I assume it is also possible to run NJ> FMail at the time of receival. Is the "exec" command in binkd.cfg NJ> the way to go here? I wonder what approaches you guys use for this NJ> purpose. I've always preferred to use the 'exec' command, to fire-up a DOS batch rather than just the tosser's executable. So, my old binkD (v0.95a) config file included: ---8<--- exec "start /m M:\\Binkley\\BinkBats\\ThisToss.Pif" *.pkt *.tic exec "start /m M:\\Binkley\\BinkBats\\ThisToss.Pif" *.su? *.mo? *.tu? *.we? *.th? *.fr? *.sa? exec "SRIF_Req.Bat *S M:\\BINKLEY\\FreqAlia.Txt I:\\FreqFail.txt" *.req ---8<--- N.B. The command for the tosser calls the .Pif rather than the batch directly. It's one of those nice Win9x features. Yes, I still run Win98se in a VirtualBox (vBox). These days I usually run Radius but the binkD configuration is a nice backup and came in handy for a month or so in late 2010 when Radius was a bit wobbly (it was Windows's fault not Radius). The batch files work whether running either from binkD or Radius. For a Linux flavoured binkD (also v0.95a) running near 24/7 in another vBox but which does -not- receive *.Tic files, I use: ---8<--- exec "/opt/ftn/fido/bin/newNodeL.sh" [Nn][Oo][Dd][Ee][Ll][Ii][Ss][Tt].[Zz][0-9][0-9] binkd.txt exec "/opt/ftn/fido/bin/tossmail" *.su? *.mo? *.tu? *.we? *.th? *.fr? *.sa? *.pkt ---8<--- In this case, both "newNodeL.sh" and "tossmail" are shell scripts rather than calling any particular software distribution's executable directly. BTW, I also run another binkD (v1.0a-551) 24/7 on the host Ubuntu PC that runs a 'Stargate' facility, accepting files from any other machine on the LAN. They just magically appear. =:) Cheers, Paul. ---* Origin: "Oops!" --unknown (just before the Big Bang) (3:640/384) SEEN-BY: 10/1 11/200 19/75 34/999 123/500 128/2 187 135/364 140/1 222/2 226/0 SEEN-BY: 230/150 250/306 261/20 38 100 1406 266/1413 280/1027 311/1 320/119 SEEN-BY: 320/219 340/400 396/45 633/104 260 267 712/848 800/432 801/161 189 SEEN-BY: 5030/1256 @PATH: 640/384 954 712/848 261/38 633/260 267 |
