CALIFORNIA LEGISLATIVE ACTIVITY
BACK IN FULL SWING!  The California State Legislature reconvened on
Monday, January 5, bringing with them some of the anti-gun
legislation carried over from last session.  Here is an update:
SB 1339 (CALDERON)...Pending floor action in the Assembly, this
proposal seeks to ban so called "high capacity" magazines. 
AB 23 (PERATA)...Legislation which would expand California's
Assault Weapons Control Act, AB 23 is headed back to the Senate for
amendments.  We'll keep you posted.
AB 532 (KNOX)...This proposal to limit handgun purchases to one in
a thirty day period is awaiting consideration by the full Assembly. 
Please contact your Assembly Members and urge them to oppose AB
532!
AB 1107 (ORTIZ)...Once a bill seeking to ban gun shows on public
grounds, AB 1107 has been amended and in its current form will chip
away at the state firearms preemption statute.  It would allow
local governments to regulate firearm sales at gun shows and other
events.  The bill will be heard in the Assembly Appropriations
Committee on Wednesday, January 21.  Please contact committee
members and urge them to vote "NO" on AB 1107.  All area codes are

AB 1369 (OLLER)...Also at the Capitol this week, AB 1369, a bill
which sought to make the issuance procedure for concealed carry
permits more uniform throughout the state, was defeated in the
Assembly Public Safety Committee.
