This is the way I use HSLink in Qmodem and QmPro
For QModem:
Since Qmodem will always stop and ask you for filenames prior to
executing HSLink, this makes the option of batch file uploading pretty
useless. So I get around it this way.
1. Create a batch file to use with HSLINK. Here is a copy of mine.
(If you have QMODEM and not Pro, be sure to change the names below
appropriately.)
@ECHO OFF
CD\QMPRO\HSLINK
hslink -@hslink.cfg @C:\QMPRO\QMPRO.BEW
CD\QMPRO
DEL QMPRO.BEW
(I will assume you already have HSLINK.CFG created by running the
HCONFIG.EXE.)
2. Run Qmodem. ALT-J and select a key combination of your choice. I
use mine rather frequently, so I chose Shift-F1. This is totally up to
you. In the blank, enter the following command.
        SHELLX C:\QMODEM\HSLINK.BAT
Now when you hit the key combination while online, Qmodem will shell out
and run this batch file. Make sure your paths and filename match the
ones you just created.
3. Setting up for HSLINK. Before you dial in, hit ALT-6 and pick the
files you want to u/l. Be sure to clear all filenames before hand, and
save all the new ones. Qmodem creates a text file named QMODEM.BEW with
all the paths and filenames to the files you've just picked. After
you've pick the files, you might want to ALT-R and see if that file is
actually out there. And even view it if you like.
a. Dial in, and once connected, head for the file area. DON'T UPLOAD
ANYTHING ELSE PRIOR TO SENDING YOUR FILES. Even if you bypass the batch
upload window, and type the name in manually, Qmodem WILL OVERWRITE THE
PICK LIST you've just created offline.
b. I seldom only uploaded. There was always something new I wanted to
d/l. So I would start the d/l of the files I wanted, and when I started
HSLINK, the files would be transferred automatically. (But even if you
don't, this will still work. But some BBS' expect you to enter the
filenames and descriptions beforehand, so keep this in mind. Even if I
had to d/l the ALLFILES list or something small, just to by-pass this
type of aggregation, I would do it.
Anyway, when the BBS exits to start HSLINK, just hit you key combination
you defined earlier, and sit back and watch.
For QmPro, this is even easier.
Still create the batch file above, but put the HSLINK in the external
protocol section. Under d/l and u/l put HSLINK. (No extension. BAT file
is assumed.) For autostart I have HS*. <-No period. No function
key combination is necessary. Once the BBS exit to run HSLINK, HSLINK
will autostart. THAT IS REAL NEAT!
NOTES
I always deleted the QMODEM.BEW file afterwards to prevent a second u/l
by mistake. I could always go back right quick and retag the files
again as opposed to sitting through another u/l.
QmPro has a bad habit of scrambling the QMPRO.BEW file. If you u/l
fails, examine it quickly. If it is scrambled, Clear All and SAVE. Hit
ALT-6 once again and repick the files. I have not found out the reason
behind this.
