NT> Could someone tell me what the best brand(s) of
fireproof/burglery safes in the small to medium-large sizes? A
brand that has lots of features (electronic code locks, better
lock bolting, and definately one that will bolt to the floor and
wall).
A floor safe will give much better protection against fire and be
easier to hide in a nonobvious place (burglars know all the usual
hide places). But keep your valuables in there in a waterproof
container because in case of a fire, water damage is likely. This
container should be made of steel and have seals made of silicone
rubber because plastic and even aluminum containers can melt.
Unless you live in a high-income neighborhood, it's unlikely that
burglars will know how to crack open even the cheapest safe. Many
instead simply remove the safe (wall mounting makes that easy) and
bang on it later.
Find out what safes the locksmiths use for their own valuables.
