| subject: | Re: CHKDSK with XP |
| chkdsk /F /R (you may not need the /F part) should be the one that tells you | what errors it found and fixes them at the same time. | | How often do you get these errors? I've seen continuous errors caused by | hardware and by virus. +-[G=>MP] It is actually someone else's machine, so I am not sure how long this has been going on. It seems like I can run CHKDSK, get errors, then run it again, clean. I can restart, get into XP a bit, do a few minor things, restart with CD, run CHKDSK, and it finds more errors. CHKDSK /R seems to fix the errors, but never tells me what they are (or that it is fixing them). /P reports finding one or more errors. I usually run /P first, then /R. I was doing this because something I read when I ran CHKDSK /? made me think this was the best way to do things.
