It'd take more than ohms law. Actually, I can tell you all there
is to know about ohms law. V=IZ. That's all there is to it. Some
reading on KVL, KCL, how loads combine and especially transistors would
be much more helpful. Then again, I have a degree in Electronics and
I still wouldn't call myself an expert on amplifiers.

I disagree to a certain extent. If your goal is simply
reasonably loud decent quality sound, there are some 6x9s that do the
job quite well. Blaupunkt's 6x9s sound very nice. We're not talking
"high end," but then most car systems don't approach that anyways due
to the environment. However, they're a huge improvement over most
factory systems, including some JBL and Bose crap I've heard in
Lincolns. Check out the August Stereo Review's opinions on Blaupunkt
6x9s. They measured pretty flat (+2.75dB on axis). That's better
than most home speakers. Of course that doesn't tell everything, but
mine sound pretty good to me for the car environment and I didn't have
to bother with a custom installation. I certainly wouldn't call them
an "abomination." Like all things, some are better than others.
