How are you today Jim ? JP> Are these not gold plated and that explains their high cost ? JH> Hee. No, I have a one-word explanation for the high cost - - profits. That seems to hit it on the head. Yesterday here, we had a flyer advertising a printer for $49.95 and the ink thank ( black ) for $48.95. So, for $1.00 you get a new printer. Has me wondering ! JH> In any event, it seems clear that whatever solvent gets up in there to JH> work on the dried-out ink has to be aggressive enough to at least get JH> the ink soft and fluid enough to be expelled, but gentle enough to not JH> damage the any and all cartridge components which it comes into JH> contact with. How are you making out in that search ? JH> A couple weeks ago, running around in the car on a Sunday afternoon, I JH> caught a portion of the Kim Komando (the computer goddess) Show on the JH> radio. She was telling about this neat new HP printer available for JH> only $40, but she pointed out the prob - - the replacement cartridges JH> for the thing cost $40 themselves. Not a good idea, IMO.
