| subject: | Watcom to make PM apps |
-=> Quoting Phil Crown to All <=- PC> How is Watcom for making PM apps? I thought I read that it is "not PC> the best compiler" when it comes to making PM apps, but I don't PC> remember what it is lacking? PC> Does Watcom have a PM C++ Class Library included? JL> Yes. No. Watcom does NOT have a PM C++ class library included. It has the standard ANSI C++ classes (iostreams, string, etc.), but it does not include a C++ class for GUI development, unlike Borland (OWL) or IBM Visual Age C++ (Open Class?). It comes with a Windows class library (MFC), but no PM class library. JL> the mannor in which the help files are organised. Books would be much JL> better, but Watcom does not include them in the release; They cost JL> extra. I find the online books to (generally) be more useful. Do a search for what I want, and I get it. :-) JL> CD in the drive, you will get a lot of path error messages while using JL> other aspects of OS/2. (quite annoying, that's why I installed to the JL> hard disk) I can't afford to have Watcom in my CD all the time - I need to go to the DevCon disks from time to time, or various other CD's. I have one HD practically dedicated to Watcom. :-) --- Maximus/2 3.01* Origin: Tanktalus' Tower BBS (PVT) (1:342/708) SEEN-BY: 50/99 270/101 620/243 625/100 711/401 409 410 413 430 808 809 934 SEEN-BY: 711/955 712/407 515 624 628 713/888 800/1 @PATH: 342/5015 61 3615/50 396/1 270/101 712/515 711/808 934 |
