"The starboard tacker has right of way over a port tacker"
Situation:
Low wind (about one or less knots).... the port tacker (small boat) is caught
in the wind shadow of two large A class boats... the port tacker drifts into
"irons" and remains shadowed by the two larger boats.... a fourth starboard
tacker (not in the shadow) calls "starboard" on the port tacker... the port
tacker is unable to give right-away.... the forth boat protests...
Protest decision ?
This situation occurred at a regatta last week and determined the outcome of
the first 3 places.... just curious as to what others would determine...
