subject: WSA on Warp4

Hi All , Yes it's me again
Hi,
I have decided to be a brave soul and try a WSA install over Warp4. :)
I have run into a few problems that I thought I would share incase anyone
else decides to go this route.
Problem #1: Cache386.exe not set-up to run after the install.
For some reason the install routine doe not add a run=cache386.exe line in
the config.sys. This causes the Net Start to fail at bootup.
Fix: Manually editing your config.sys will fix this.
Warning #1: DO NOT INSTALL ANY Network services from Warp4.
Warp4 installs networking services that are newer than those suplied with
WSA. The WSA install will fail if you have these installed. The MPTS from
Warp4 is installed (you are forced by Warp4 installer) but this is ok (WSA
doesn't mind it asks if you want to use the newer version sellect YES).
FIX: Don't install Warp4 networking
Warning #2: DO NOT INSTALL LOCAL SECURITY util you are sure everything is
working!!!
I made the mistake of installing local security before I got problem #1
fixed. Because the server would not start I could not log in and then could
not get access to the system to fix the problem. :(
Fix: I had to re-install everything. There may have been a better way but I
had no access to the docs and the "Up and Running" did not cover local
security at all. :(((

Problem #2: Hang on Advanced Print Service "Configure".
During the install of Advanced Print Services the Installer will "hang" at
approx 80% complete on the Configure routine for this service.
Fix: Reboot system. After rebooting the install routine will restart and
complete the install without problems.
Problem #4: HPFS386 Boot Disk
I tried to create a HPFS Boot Disk without sucess. The routine copied the
files and config.sys to the floppy but it is not bootable. :(
Fix: I have not found one yet.
Well that's it for right now. I am off to upgrading the system to TCP/IP
4.1, Java 1.1.4 and FP #5. If I have anymore problems or notes I'll let you
know.
