-> Technically those were supposed to be honed using a special -> tool with three honing stones attached and only a certain -> number of 'passes' in/out of the cylinder to clean up the bore -> or the cylinder was to be considered 'junk' and not used again. I had one of those wheel Cylinder Hones I gotroorm J C Whitney. They had pretty fine stones so were fro clean up only. After honing you should examing them carefully for any pitting. That was Difficult in place!! :-) :-) -> With my bad knee and two bad shoulders I'm not sure I can do -> another complete brake job anymore. If this line has burst the -> others need replacing too and it's not unusual for them to snap -> off at the cylinder/caliper requiring that everything be -> disassembled and at that point may as well do a complete brake -> job. I've had to do this on my last two cars now this one. Did -> the other two myself but it's been some years and I'm not -> having an easy time of it squatting and working on rusted bolts -> if you know what I mean. I KNOW exacticaly what you mean. After doing most of my own work for over 45 Years I finaly cannot do it any more. I almsot Cry everytine I have to take a vehicle into a shop. But Reality has set in and I have no other choice. I guess I should be gratefull for the countless Thousands of dollars I had saved in the past by doing my own Auto Repairs. I have changes my selection specifications for buying a car though. The last New car I bought was a 1960 Ford Falcon. For many years when I was doing my own maintenance I bought 10 to 15 Year old cars. Later I shifted to buying off the Consumer Reports "Worst Used Car Buy" list. Got many bargans and Cheap Transportation vehicles. I am buying Newer and lower miledge cars now and use the Best Buy list. The newest of my fleet of threee cars is a 1999 Subaru and the oldest is a 1993. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: Shakey Jake's *ALL FREE BBS* Santee, CA (1:202/1324) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 202/1324 10/3 106/2000 633/267 |
